The gala will be catered by Gad’s Hill Place.

The recent dinner theatre Gala Fundraiser at the Merrickville Community Centre was a big success, raising over a thousand dollars for the Merrickville District Medical Health Centre Emergency Patient Fund. The two plays — the drama “Paper Trail” and the Shavian satire “Augustus Does His Bit” — were both very well received, and the audience was well fed by a delicious meal from Gad’s Hill Place.
Unfortunately, only one of these two plays could go on to Kingston to take part in the Eastern Ontario Drama League One Act Play Festival. However, Theatre Night In Merrickville is proud and delighted to report that “Paper Trail” (dir. Bronwen McKnight) had an extremely successful performance in Kingston and walked away with two awards and one nomination.

Ann MacLaughlan and Maureen Overy won the Nancy Chajkowski Award for Costuming. Alyson Reid won the Pauline Grant Award for Acting for her performance in “Paper Trail”. This is is the third acting award that Alyson has won and the second year in a row that she has come home with a trophy. Last year she won as part of the ensemble in “Buttonholes in Silk”.

In addition to these accolades, “Paper Trail” also received a nomination for the Peterborough Examiner Award for Best Visual Production, which is awarded for excellence in the elements of set design and dressing, lights, and costumes.
